Engr. Charles Odita holds a First Class Honours, Bachelors of Engineering degree (1984) in Chemical Engineering and a Masters of Engineering (1987) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Thereafter, he worked as an Industrial Water Technical Sales Engineer with Pinnacle Holdings Limited in Lagos. Between 1988 and 2007, he worked with Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), with over four years of cross-posting with Netherlands Aardoile Maatschappij (NAM) in Assen, Netherlands (the local Dutch oil producing company) and Shell Research in Rijswijk, Netherlands.
In his 20 years with Shell Upstream Oil and Gas production business, he worked in various capacities as Well Site Petroleum Engineer, Drilling Operations Engineer, Research Engineer, Project Engineer, Senior Well Engineer and finally as head of Corporate Wells Planning for SPDC.
In May 2007, he was with Notore Chemical Industries Ltd, which was the only producer of Nitrogenous Urea Fertilizer in Sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa from 2009 to 2014. He worked initially as Chief Technical Officer, The Group Chief Technical Officer and later as the Group Chief Operating Officer. He oversaw the rehabilitation of the old acquired NAFCON plant, associated facilities and infrastructure to a producing plant and supported the plant towards achieving best and maximum production.
He is a Chartered Engineer registered by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (FNSchE), a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Professional Member of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (MIMMM) UK, Chartered Engineer (CEng) of the British Engineering Council and a Member of Institute of Directors (IOD).
He has written various technical papers in the area of Well Engineering and has attended several technical and management programmes in Nigeria, Netherlands, UK, and USA. He is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) course of the Harvard Business School, Boston, USA.
Engr. Odita is currently the Managing Director/CEO of Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Nigeria since 2014. He sits on the board of several companies.
